Enriching Life Through Media: TV, books, and movies

Living in Sunnyvale (the nation's third safest city, don't ask me where I got this fact because it is something I have been told since I moved here from Cupertino), you have to really work hard to find some sources of entertainment. So, I will list some of the tv shows, books, and movies that I have been investing my time with and maybe it will help alleviate some times of boredom for you as well.

1. Freaks and Geeks (1999-2000)



















This series was the first created by Judd Apatow (who was the genius behind 40-Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up) and features funny guys Seth Rogen, Jason Segel, and James Franco. This TV show is awesome and I was recommended this show by another TV buff and is definitely the best show that you have never heard of.

2. Undeclared (2001-2002)



















This is Judd Apatow's second TV show. To be honest, it has its moments, but is definitely nowhere the level of Freaks and Geeks. It is just a TV show about college, and decent shows about college are rare. Also, it makes me really miss the great times of college: Welcome Week, dorms, and overall good buddies.

3. The Truman Show (1998)




















I know this is an older film, but I have not seen it until recently. This is a sad and trippy film that really is thought-provoking and one of the best movies that I have ever seen. Even if you are not a Jim Carrey fan, this is not a typical Jim Carrey role, so if you have not seen it, watch it! If you have seen it, it is such a good movie, I would recommend watching this again and I hate rewatching movies for the most part.

4. In N Out Burger (2009) - Stacy Perman




















While working for EasySpoon this past semester, I met many people who had just completed my phase in the life cycle as a young professional and were attempting entrepreneurial ideas. For anyone thinking about ever running their own business or needing of an idea on how to manage their current professional life, this story about how In N Out Burger built its successes certainly gives you 'food for thought'.
